Individual homes here in Arabia, called villas, are usually quite large and generally have a solid 8-10 feet tall wall around the perimeter of the property. The home takes up most of the space inside the walls. There is likely a small totally tiled courtyard, although some homes have large beautiful courtyards with small grassy areas. To afford even more privacy, slatted privacy fences extend above the solid walls to prevent viewing into the courtyard from higher windows in neighboring buildings.
