A Couch for the Caretaker

It is not unusual to see a sight such as this outside residential apartment buildings.  Probably a cast off from one of the tenants and now belonging to the building caretaker, an old couch or chair sits out in the sun (or oftentimes in the shade).  It provides a place to sit for the busy caretaker, who wears many hats including security, car washer, deliveryman, custodian, and repairman, among other things.

  1. Hi Alaya & Hi Betty!
Yes, it IS a little wierd, but all over Jeddah, you can see couches like this outside of apartment buildings and sometimes outisde of businesses as well.
It does remind me of college too – all the shoddy hand me down furniture we used when we couldn’t afford anything else!
