Wearing a black cloak (called abaya), a black headscarf and a black veil wouldn’t be my first choice of what to wear on a sightseeing boat ride on the Red Sea in the blazing summer heat. But this is indeed what most women wear here in Saudi Arabia. Some might be more daring and sport a brightly colored scarf on such an outing, but most choose basic black for every occasion where they are out in public. It hardly seems fair when one can see men wearing only swimtrunks riding around on jet skis.
About This Blog, and About Me: Susie of Arabia
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is KSA's 2nd largest city and is located on its west coast, right on the Red Sea. I moved here in 2007 with my Saudi hubby and teenage son. This journal reflects the things that I see here, life through my eyes, my lens.
Please be sure to also visit my other blog, SUSIE'S BIG ADVENTURE, which relates my experiences, thoughts, and observations about living in Saudi Arabia.
