This beautiful modern sculpture is located in a large roundabout in the city of Jeddah. It is one of probably hundreds of works of art that grace the city. It is called the Structure of the Atom and is made of aluminum. FIAT – the Italian car maker – gifted this work of art to the city of Jeddah. The rings represent the rotating atomic particles which are drive by an electric motor.
About This Blog, and About Me: Susie of Arabia
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is KSA's 2nd largest city and is located on its west coast, right on the Red Sea. I moved here in 2007 with my Saudi hubby. This journal reflects the things that I see here, life through my eyes, my lens.
Please be sure to also visit my other blog, SUSIE OF ARABIA (formerly SUSIE'S BIG ADVENTURE), which relates my experiences, thoughts, and observations about living in Saudi Arabia.

Thanks for your photo journal! I just finished reading a book called “Finding Nouf” which takes place in and around Jeddah. The author offers little description of the city, but makes references to some landmarks. I found your blog very helpful in getting a real sense of the environment of the book.
Thanks, Erin – I’m so glad my blog could help you visualize what it’s really like here! I’ll keep my eyes open for that book – I hadn’t heard of it.
