Jeddah Art: “Allah” in Calligraphy

dscf5857
This is another of the countless works of art displayed around the city of Jeddah, home to the world’s largest open air art museum.   It looks like a whimsical design of different shapes and patterns, but it actually says “Allah” in Arabic script. Many of the sculptures are religious, or whimsical, or modern, or have to do with the sea.

  1. Hi Elaine and Ab –
Many of Jeddah’s pieces of art are calligraphy and feature Islamic verses or such. My hubby says that yes, this one looks like it actually says “Allah.” You’re good, Ab!!!

  2. Ab says:

I guess if one was really drunk, the top part might look like “Allah” 😛
I like reading the street signs and advertisements in the back!

  3. Elaine says:

I love the lines on this. I suppose they aren’t actual calligraphy, but they have that sort of curl to them.
