Government Gate

A beautiful and impressive entry gate to a government facility here in Jeddah.   It could be to a royal residence, but I’m not really sure.

This used to be the palace of the late King Faisal (famous for the US oil embargo). it is now being used as a residence for official guests..

  2. HishMaj says:

If this is the one in King Abdul Aziz Road, then it is a minister’s office. It is used when he is in Jeddah and open to the public then.

Hope you did not get into trouble after taking this pic 🙂

  3. Hi Elaine – The actual area of the wall around the facility is immense too. It must take up several square blocks in size. In fact, some such facilities take up entire grids of city acreage. There are many palaces here, each built by different kings or royal family members. Some are now used to house visiting dignitaries.

It’s nice looking architecture. Without the sword symbols, it could be in Hawaii.
