The Lion King in Arabic

The Lion King in Arabic

This photo was taken off the TV as it played a DVD of an Arabic version of The Lion King.  The viewer has the option of hearing the dialogue in either English or Arabic, and also a choice of subtitles being shown on the screen in either language.  It’s very helpful for me trying to learn Arabic since I can hear the Arabic being spoken and read the English subtitles at the same time.   And by the way, whoever did the dubbing into Arabic did a really great job at matching the voices to the original version’s voices in English.

Nothing is so useful for learning a language as watching a lot of television! 😀

It can also be useful the other way around – you can hear the dialog in arabic, and read the subtitles in arabic to try and match spoken word with written text.
