Most buildings here are finished in stone, tile, or marble, probably because it requires less maintenance and lasts longer in this brutal climate. I like the multi-colored stone that was used for this building. Typical Saudi-style residential apartment buildings here generally have several floors. The first floor is usually for covered parking and the lobby, and then the floors above are for the flats. I thought the windows were interesting looking too. This building is less than a year old and is built in a newer section of town where construction is booming.

Hi Geogypsy –
I’m not sure where this particular stone is from, but I know that many buildings here are made using regional resources. Most of the buildings here are built using lighter colored stone, but occasionally I will see the darker stone like this. It stands out because it’s not so common.
I love the stone, and the windows, it looks like a castle. Not bad for apartments. Is it local rock?
