For Sale Sign

The real estate market has slowed down a bit here, but not as badly as the USA. Many large companies have branches in Saudi Arabia. I thought you might be interested in seeing a Century 21 sign, written mostly in Arabic.

Hi, the sign says in Arabic:
land for sale, exclusive sales agent, Ariz Real Estate Co. (no century 21 logo in arabic :))
in arabic century 21 would be written as: سنتوري 21 🙂

I heard it’s quite hard to live in saudi..especially for women..i live in kuwait, much more open here

Btw sue i like your positive outlook to everything around there..i guess it’s the only way to survive there 😛 ..if it was me or any fairly educated Arab who knows how to pronounce a P commenting on the Good CrisBy sign..i would say – some people are just too lazy to do a bit of research before they name their shops or businesses..sheer laziness 🙂

    • Hi Toni – Thanks for the translation. So are you saying they just used the Century 21 logo but the company is not really Century 21? So I would guess that it’s to attract Westerners who are familiar with that logo? Interesting…
It is not easy living here – it’s quite restrictive for women.
I have a friend who owns a restaurant here with her husband, and she told me that getting the menus printed up without mistakes in English is virtually impossible to do. She herself ensured that everything was spelled correctly in English before sending it to the printers, but the menus still came back with errors. In the states, she could just send back the menus to have them reprinted, but I don’t think things work that way here. Thanks again for your comment.

  2. How COOL to see the sign in Arabic!

  3. There is so much new construction here in Jeddah – it’s unbelievable. And it’s everywhere! No sign of it slowing down at all. Boom, boom, boom!

  4. Samir says:

As the price of land is going down in Saudi Arabia, there will be more construction projects.
The country is not really very much affected by the world economical crisis.

  5. Interesting to see a real estate sign in Arabic.
US real estate market is pretty bad in most places. Glad you’re not having as many problems there.

  6. Sonia says:

We sold our condo in Dubai last year, before everything began crumbling down. It is amusing to see Century 21 with Arabic words. There was a big discussion in one of my classes last year, where our Professor who also owns a consulting firm said that Saudi government is insisting that locals must replace the expats as companies are beginning to downsize. The signs of slowing economy won’t be obvious with the government intervention. I would imagine that the Saudi market will catch up to EU and US in couple of months.
