My World: Dinosaurs

During our recent trip to the resort city of Taif, we paid a visit to the Taif Zoo. It’s a small zoo but has a nice collection of well cared for animals, including a bear, crocodile, elephant, and of course, camels. There was also a small theater where a short film about dinosaurs was shown, and as well as an area with many full scale dinosaur statues. One nice touch was that large shaded golf carts were available to rent for going around the zoo. I think it would be great to offer this service in large spread out zoos like MetroZoo in Miami, which requires lots of walking in the heat between the animals’ habitats.

Well, That’s My World for this week! That’s My World! offers a unique glimpse at life all over our planet. Take a peek at other people’s lives from all over the world by visiting That’s My World!

That’s an interesting zoo, especially the feature on dinosaurs.

Nice pic Susie! Kind of reminds me of the Royal Tyrell Museum down in Drumheller (if you don’t know, it’s a fantastic dinosaur museum smack-dab in the middle of the Alberta badlands).

agree with you regarding carts to fend off the heat of the day…most zoos don’t have adequate shade for either humans or animals…
thanks for sharing as always enjoyed.

  4. Well, this post looks like it could have been in any city in America or Canada. Captain Kabob! What a hoot!

I’m glad you had a great day at the zoo. Take care 🙂

  6. The golf carts are a great idea. Going to the zoo always wears me out, though I love seeing the animals.

Looks like a great zoo! and I do agree that golf carts would be great for zoos — they would be a very welcome addition! I do love zoos and go whenever I can! It’s sad to see animals in captivity, but the way our world is going, who knows how long they’ll be able to exist in the wild.

  8. Bill B. says:

They would be a welcome addition since it is getting very hot in So. Fla.

  9. James says:

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to a zoo. I think San Diego’s has a tram but golf carts would be great.

    That’s really impressive.

What a great idea…renting out golf carts, especially when the kids(too big for strollers) and big “kids” become sooo tired at the opposite end of the entrance.

    • Those carts ARE a good idea, aren’t they? We fit 8 people on ours – Captain Kabob got to drive so he had a great time!

      • JetSetMom.Cece says:

Captain Kabob driving…awesome! How long before he hits the mean streets? Student driving has been more difficult on me!!!!! And the other two can’t wait.

I agree with you about the carts. Love the rich greens captured those so well. He does look a little mean for such a small thing.

    • These models were actually pretty big, even though they might look small in the photo. I don’t think they were life size, but they were definitely much bigger than a human being!

It would be cool if this dinasour moved its head to “It’s a Small World.” It’s nice to see your pictures.:)
