SkyWatch: Country Living

DSCF4543 1 copy
These walls surrounding a villa in the countryside caught my eye. It is located in the hills outside of Taif, a mountainous region famous for its agricultural produce. I really wish I could have seen inside. I loved the low rock wall in front of the home and the wild brush combined with the pink and yellow flowering bushes planted to complete the landscape. Taif has beautiful skies and gets more annual rainfall than the city where I live, Jeddah.

I spied a beautiful flowering tree, is that jacaranda?

With such fine fencing, I would be curious of this place’s interiors.

It’s a long weekend here, hope you enjoy your weekend.

    • Good eye! Yes, I did see lots of beautiful jarandas in bloom here. I tried to get some photos, but none came out very good as we were zooming by in the car all the time!

  6. Jerry M says:

I prefer a more natural setting outside. I know that is an American view.

  7. Jerry M says:

Are most of the ‘villas’ with walls like this designed so that you cannot see the house at all?

    • Many of the villas are two or three stories, so those kind you can see the top floors over the walls. Since this one is out in the country, it’s set on a bigger piece of land and is probably set back a bit and more of a ranch style house, I’m guessing. Most of the villas in the city take up more space within the walls and don’t really have that much yard/garden area. In fact many of the villas I’ve seen have that area completely tiled in anyway. I would prefer more of an outside area myself.

Susie, that sky is gorgeous, and the structure very handsome. I like the complement of the yellow with the blue, accented by those white fluffy clouds.

That ain’t what we call “villas.” Yes, it would be nice to see inside…but your photo gives us a picture of possibilities. Xeriscaping is catching on here, too. I’ve thought of doing it, but I’m afraid my neighbors would run me out of town!

  26. Guy D says:
