Ramadan is the month during the year when Muslims fast during the daylight hours. Muslims are very charitable yearround but being charitable during the month of Ramadan is especially important to Muslims. Charity can be given in many forms, from clothing and food, to money and good deeds. Being charitable is obligatory in Islam, and when it is done during the month of Ramadan, Muslims believe that they are given more blessings, rewards, or credit, if you will, than when charity is performed during the rest of the year. Many Muslims personally seek out those who appear to be in greatest need and give to them, preferring to handle this charity individually themselves instead of relying on a charity organization or a middle man.
About This Blog, and About Me: Susie of Arabia
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is KSA's 2nd largest city and is located on its west coast, right on the Red Sea. I moved here in 2007 with my Saudi hubby and teenage son. This journal reflects the things that I see here, life through my eyes, my lens.
Please be sure to also visit my other blog, SUSIE'S BIG ADVENTURE, which relates my experiences, thoughts, and observations about living in Saudi Arabia.
