Hanging Out at the Garage

DSCF8009 9
This is a typical scene at an automotive repair garage, with male customers hanging around waiting for their vehicles to be serviced. I have been to the Toyota dealership where my husband took the car for service, and there was a waiting room, complimentary coffee, and plenty of reading material, in the form of Korans. Women wouldn’t normally hang out at places like this…

I wonder how it would for a Saudi woman to come over to America, have her own car, and then needing to take it to an automotive shop? It would proably be interesting. One of the very first times I wore hijab as a converted Muslim sister to an automotive shop, the guy at the counter asked if my ears were cold…hahah…it was during the winter time. Even in America, I think most of the time women rely on their husbands (father, brothers, etc) to take the car in. During that day, I was the only female in the waiting room reading Glamour magazine!

They must get awfully dirty wearing white.

Men hang out at garages everywhere it seems. Is there a separate room for women, just in case?
