Busy Storefront

Many businesses here in Saudi Arabia lay it on thick when it comes to their business signage. The large plate glass windows of this storefront are almost completely obscured in neon yellow, orange and green Arabic script, which probably advertises what they offer inside. And for those of us who don’t read Arabic, there are plenty of visual ideas of what this business has to offer on the busy sign above the shop. I don’t remember stores doing this that much where I have lived in the states – what about where you live?

I think one difference might be the fact that so many of our stores are chain stores and we know by their names what they sell. Also, a lot of stores include in their name some indication as to what they are all about.

This kind of thing is overkill, it seems to me. And not very attractive, either! You need sunglasses to look at it! 😉

  2. The store front advertising in friendly EAGAN is more more subtle! Interesting snap, Susie!

Some are this busy too, but not in the more upscale shopping areas.
Arabic script is so pretty though, that if you can’t read it, it just looks like artistic decoration.

That is a lot to read
I think we think less is more. But I will pay attention to your question next time I am in the city.
