Seaside Siesta

It’s not uncommon to see men taking a snooze along the Corniche situated along the Red Sea in Jeddah. This man has strategically placed his prayer rug in a large shaded area on the pavers of the Corniche. Facing the Red Sea, he steals a daytime nap. He wears the traditional long white dress that Saudi men wear called a thobe.

I love the colours of this photo, and the composition. He looks at peace to me, and in a siesta country it seems normal to me. Now in the February snow here, it would be pathetic!

  2. Interesting sculpture….you captured it well.
