Villa’s High Walls

This gives you an idea of how all private individual villas are surrounded by very tall walls for privacy. Many villas in Saudi Arabia are enormous and can house three or four generations under the same roof. All villas also have maid’s quarters as well as most families employ maids and drivers, who come from other countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, or Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia to work.

More like a fortress to me. It seems I write too much but anyway, if you leave Jeddah towards Makkah’s highway you’ll end up in the easternmost district of Jeddah, Prince Fawaz’s, which villas were designed by a Western architect who apparently didn’t get the hang of ‘Saudi privacy’. The outside walls had big holes where fresh air should come through hedges into the house but as soon as families moved in all these holes were filled.
