Photos taken on my recent outing to the Birds and Animals Souk in Jeddah. I only saw men there – I was the only woman around! I’m happy to report that just about everyone was wearing face masks.
Many men purchase sheep and goats prior to the holiday to make some extra cash. They resell the livestock from their pickup trucks.

Do they mind you taking a photo of them?
Hi Amy – When I am able to, I ask first. Many of my photos are taken from a moving car. There have been very few times when I have asked that a man has not obliged. Attitudes here toward being photographed have definitely loosedned up since my arrival here in 2007. With camera phones, everyone takes selfies and they are on social media, even women.
