A series of larger than life lanterns by Spanish artist Julio Lafuente are a well-known landmark in Jeddah. At night the Mameluke Lanterns are lit up, glowing in blues and yellows and reds, and is just a gorgeous sight to behold.

Pingback: Accident Sculpture « JEDDAH DAILY PHOTO JOURNAL
Hi JM – Yes, they are enormous. Actually I think there are about 5 lanterns in a row altogether, but we are always whizzing by in a car and my husband has never stopped yet to let me get a really good photo!!! One of these days (or nights actually would be better), I will get some better shots when I get him to stop. They are truly spectacular at night all lit up.
They really look huge and must be awesome at night!…
