Men in White

DSCF0680 1 copy
The men dressed in the white thobes in this photo are customers waiting for their orders in a local fisherie. Saudi men traditionally wear the thobe with long white pants underneath, a scarf or small white cap on their heads, and sandals. The fisherie offers a selection of fresh fish or you may bring in your own fish to have it cleaned, gutted, and cooked to your specifications. Fisheries are very popular here in Saudi Arabia.

You can bring your own fish? I cannot think of anywhere like this here at all.

I find the men’s dress interesting, but I prefer it when they wear the white or white and red scarf, with this white cap they look weird to me.

The penchant for uniformity in Saudi Arabia is something I would have never expected.

  5. Arabian Susie! Love this posting for a look into daily Saudi life. I’ve been curious about Saudi Arabia for a long time but haven’t had the opportunity to travel there. It’s fun to see Jeddah through your lens and with your explanations!
