This enormous ultra-modern, ultra-clean supermarket just opened near our home in Jeddah about six months ago. The aisles are the widest I have ever seen in any market. The shelves are stocked with a wide variety and selection of products. The shiny tile floors are constantly swept and mopped by an overabundance of store employees, most of whom are foreign workers. We prefer to shop in the middle of the week earlier in the day when there are hardly any other shoppers. Overall, grocery prices are much cheaper here than in the states.

This is HyperPanda ..
its the biggest chain of stores in Saudi Arabia.
They have also a branch at Dubai in Dubai Festival City mall.. by the way its the expansion of Azizia Panda comapny..
they Have 100 stores around the kingdom
Looks big enough to drive a truck through. Are you sure it isn’t a drive through store? 🙂
The wide, immaculate aisles look very appealing to me! I wonder why the prices are inexpensive compared to those in the U.S,
This looks really clean there!Great supermarket!
Yes this Carrefour!!!! A french store! LOL!
No, this is HyperPanda.
Marahm, the good ol’ “Al-Azizia” is now known as “Panda” and it is one of the leading supermarkets across the kingdom. I believe the photo above is of “Panda”(aka Azizia).
washaw, no sign of Wal-mart till now. Though we have French supermarkets like Geant and Carrefour.
Do you have a WalMart yet? Love the big grocery.
Looks like a bright big market to shop in. Glad to hear you get good prices. Is there fresh local produce?
Fresh produce is grown in Taif, which is maybe a couple hour drive from Jeddah. It is in the mountains and farming is the biggest industry there.
Wow, supermarkets in the Kingdom have evolved! When I lived in Riyadh, our largest market was Al-Azizia, which, after having been expanded three times over the years, was not nearly as big as the one in your photo!
Susie,
First of all, I love seeing your photos so thanks for sharing them. Secondly, I missed a couple days so going back I saw the pictures of the camels and for the life of me I never heard of camel milk before..I don’t know if I was not paying attention in school or what but it just shocked me.
Kris
It reminds me of Carrefour and Auchan. Ahhh,..Good times!
Do you find the local outdoor market prices of produce to be relatively cheaper or pricier than the supermarket?
Produce prices at the big outdoor fruit and vegetable market are cheaper than buying from a supermarket. After all, in the supermarket one can shop in the comfort of air conditioning – I have almost passed out from the heat at the outdoor market!
